Republica fundraising gig 21st November - Sally's band METRO

Bloody excellent value this gig was at just a fiver, and it probably raised about 180 quid for our tournament fund when you include the raffle tickets we sold. Yay, I've just realised that means we must have passed into the four-figure fundraising bracket after less than 3 months of the 2009-2010 fundraising campaign !

The gig started with a great set from Dave willis - edgy, characterful solo singer-guitarist - OUTSTANDING !

He was followed by Geraint Jones, another good covers guitarist.

Then finally the dynamic mod-rock of Sally's band METRO. Brilliant tunes, so catchy that even on first hearing you couldn't stop jumping around ! If you missed them this time then make sure you catch them next time !! Maybe at our tournament next summer if we're really lucky ?

All this plus a brief poetic rant from our Ben, who got up on stage to promote our forthcoming spoken word night on 4th December.

We should aim to put on a gig in February or March at a bigger venue, ideally featuring some more bands who have big tournament potential.
